Hey Del Mar

Yesterday we hit Del Mar beach - but only for a little walk to check things out.  Using our in built 'AlwaysLost' GPS system we parked about a mile from where we should have been and set off the rest of the way on foot.  It was a perilous route - high speed trains to the left; death inducing cliffs to the right, but eventually we got to where the cool people were hanging out, surfing and doing other stuff cool people do.

Aside: Alma insisted at this point in the story that I mention the two dolphins we saw swimming beautifully along the shore (just off the death cliffs).  As you can imagine from my tone, I'm a little sceptical as to what they were and whether they had really followed synchronised swimming classes or not, but suffice it to say they had a dorsel fin and the birds floating close to them didn't appear too concerned so it's not an all together implausible story.

Anyways - back to the beach.  I might have mentioned before that America has everything.  It would seem that even the seagulls have copped on to this and have started hitting the supermarkets and bringing their own gear to the beach.

Alma also daringly took her first plunge in the Pacific (feet only instead of feet first).  As you can probably make out from her facial expression, the water wasn't all that warm ... and that was just in anticipation.
