ELS op bezoek !

Our wonderful neighbors (yes of course I'm only writing that because I know they're going to read this !) paid us a visit in February.  Having previously spent 17 hours in a car together travelling to Austria, I think it's fair to say that we were all pretty comfortable in each other's company so we were really looking forward to their visit.  To spice things up they brought their new little man, Simon along.

After collecting the weary travelers from LAX and getting them home, I just had to take a picture of them so that they could see just how tired they looked once they'd recovered (probably just in time for the flight back).  Below is the evidence - the smiles are of course fake!

The pale faced and weary travelers.
First up - a trip to the Safari park; a must see for any newcomer!

Watching you watching them watching ... oh I give up !

Even Gerald gave the lads a wink.
La la la ...
While I headed back to work, Alma took a trip to Sea World - the next "must go see" destination on any visitor's list.  They pretty much spent the day there taking in all the shows.  Unfortunately however, the Manta was closed for renovations (it was only opened recently ?!?!?!) so maximum LOL was not accomplished.

Never mind this mush you've been giving me - I want some real food !

Next up it's road trip time !  Remember the 17 hours?  Well we were determined to top that with a trip to Mammoth (even though it only takes about 6 to get there).  It was time for the boys to have some skiing fun, though looking at Erwin's face in the photo below it looks more like it's going to be "What you takin' bout Willis?" time.

There aren't many that can claim they had their diaper changed on the long straight US-395 highway in the freezing cold (despite how sunny it was) on the bonnet of a Ford Explorer.  But Simon can !
Day 1: The lads are ready for action.  Of course there are no other photos of us skiing because obviously they haven't invented high speed cameras with enough frames per second yet.
A shot on the balcony of the lodge we were staying at.  Nice gaff !
Having returned from Mammoth on Saturday, our okilie dokilie neighbors only had one more day before it was time to head back to LAX (how the time flies !).  So we decided to take them for a little walk on the beach.  A jolly stroll as it was cleverly advertised.  Sure! after you've completed the initial grueling hike (at least for Erwin carrying Simon) up and then back down Torrey Pines (cue evil laugh - not such nice neighbors now are we !!).  Nonetheless, the weather was great and it turned out to be a very relaxing afternoon (again - I wasn't the one carrying the extra weight, so my view is probably a little biased).
Sure - you're all smiles now.  Wait until after the trek and let's see how happy you are then !

The little man - just checking to see if he's fallen asleep yet.

Near the top - it's still all smiles.  God these guys are tough !

Linda traces out Simon's name in the sand so that everyone would know for all eternity that he had been there .... not quite sure how that one is going to work out.

The classic (hence the black and white) beach walking shot.

Later that same evening, the lads presented us with a thank you card (you had me at hello !).  When we saw it first, we thought that they were after going all soft on us ....

.... but sure enough when we opened it, we realized that they were still very much on form !

Thanks for coming !!!!  We miss you guys !!! (but we'll be back very soon).
