Venus Transit

What feels like years ago at this stage, I popped out to the Cymer multi-level car park to take a peek at Venus transiting across the sun ... as you do on a Tuesday afternoon.  One of the co-founders of the company has his 8" "tube" all set up to watch it and take a few photos like the one below.  The transit started at 3:06pm and ended well after sunset.  You can see the shadow of Venus at the 9 o'clock position.  This is last time this will be seen until 2117, and even then is not likely to be seen so well in San Diego (according to the soothsayers).  You see - still living the privileged dream !
